wechat 5.2

Yay! Another WeChat update! As if this cool chat app doesn’t almost have everything anymore, in comes another innovation! I’m excited for this upgrade as it will help me by aiding me with my activities like attending food events, and other social events that I’m scheduled to join in this year and for the years to come such as food fairs, restaurant invites, new clubs (it’s true the last club I went to was Mars but still you’ll never know right?)

WeChat 5.2 for Android and iOS now sports these six amazing new features for people like me on the go!

Menu Bar

The new menu bar is now cleaner and organized into three sections which are Chats, Discover, and Contacts. In Android, these tabs can be seen on top. But in iOS, these can be seen on the bottom. Anyway, Chats obviously is where you can view your past and ongoing conversations. Contacts is where you can see all your WeChat contacts, and then the Discover Tab is for the rest of WeChat’s extra fun features such as shared moments, games, shake, people nearby, Drift Bottle, Games, and the Sticker Shop.

Friend Radar

Let’s step into the Friend Zone. Nope, not that kind of friend zone. WeChat shows you the contact details of new friends that are within your zone through the Friend Radar. This is actually pretty cool because with this, you can view the WeChat details of the new friends you’ve made during that event, and once they pop up on your friend radar...

wechat friend radar can simply tap their images on the radar to add them in your contact list. This means no need to ask them one by one for their WeChat IDs and whatnots.

Friend Radar can be accessed from the Menu Bar, then Add Contacts, and WeChat will already do the digital friend-scanning for you. I think it’s cool!

Real-time Location-sharing

Scenario: You’re in Disney World with your family and extended family. You split up for a second but forget where you planned to meet up. That’s where WeChat’s Real-time Location sharing comes in handy! You can invite you family or friends for a real-time location sharing session so you can see a map with the real-time location of your companions.

Not only that but there is a “talk” button that appears on the bottom of the screen so you can talk / give instructions as to where you are exactly, etc. Like a Walkie Talkie! It sounds like a lot of fun! To start a real-time location chat, just open a chat, click the + sign, tap Locations, and tap Real-time Location.

Group Chat Photo Album

I love how WeChat 5.2 organizes all the photos sent in a group chat. The Group Chat Photo Album arranges them by date so it’s easier to look for a specific photo that you need. No need to keep scrolling up the chat thread. Just tap on the most recent photo, then click on the albums icon on the bottom right

And VOILA! There’s your organized photo album!

Universal Search

“What was the address of that new restaurant again that my friend recommended two weeks ago?” Again, no need to browse through the long chat thread. With the Universal Search, you can just type a keyword in the search box which can be seen on top of the chats tab, and then all the messages or whatever that contains that keyword will appear below.

Contact List Customization

The Contact List Customization on the other hand lets you customize your contacts more as you will have the option to add photos of the contact, and maybe their addresses and / or business cards into your friend’s profiles. Just click a specific contact, then click the three dots icon on the upper right of the screen, and then tap on Edit User Info. That’s it!

Aside from these six powerful features, WeChat 5.2 for Android comes with enhanced versions of its staple features, some of which includes more animated stickers that you can find from the Sticker Shop for more animated conversations with your friends, Group Chat Mention Notifications (which alerts you when someone in the Group Chat mentions your name, a boosted video and audio quality for chats, plus a LinkedIn Account in WeChat.

It’s a bit hard to believe that all of these amazing and awesome features come in an app that’s so easy to use. WeChat is for everyone! Get ready to boost your social life in 5...4...3...2..1! Update your WeChat now! Visit!
