A GASTRONOMIC JOURNEY AT CDP GLOBAL TABLE

Hi Everyone!
A special shout out to everyone that watched the First Episode of the Pickiest Eater Web Series!

I said I would be happy if we could get 500 views, and so far we've got over 1,400 and counting!
We are currently planning the second episode, and I hope you'll enjoy it as much as the first!
In case you haven't seen it yet, you can watch it here:

Anyways, I wanted to once again apologize for the the decreased frequency of my posts.
My family has ventured once again into the food business, and so I've been spending most of my time making sure it opens smoothly.

If you are in the area, please feel free to drop by The Grill Boy, located at 2nd Floor of The Spark Place, along P. Tuazon St. in Cubao (Across SM Cubao)

I'm there every day, so in case you see me, please feel free to say hello :)

Anyway, back to regular programming.. For now..

I've been a fan of Chef Katrina Alcantarasince my first trip to Mesclun Bistro a couple of years ago. Her food always exudes finesse, and impressive knowledge of classic techniques. It's always interesting hearing her explain how a dish came about (often using French terms that I have no clue what they mean, so I just nod along like I do, saying, "Uh huh") through her different experiences.

Her latest concept, CDP Global Table, is a collaboration with seasoned restaurateurs Malou Fores and Kristine Locsin, that takes your senses on to a culinary voyage through different dishes inspired from their travels together.

Luckily I was able to tag along for the ride!

HATCH 22 AT ROCKWELL

Hatch 22

Among the food that makes me happy, Eggs would definitely be one of them. It's such a simple but sunny and happy breakfast food that never fails to put a smile on my face. Especially when I'm very very hungry. I can eat eggs any time of the day. Scrambled, sunny side up, salted egg, century egg, hard boiled, or soft boiled. Except raw, I'd be more that happy to eat it all!

So you can imagine my delight when I saw the all-day breakfast menu of Hatch 22 owned by celebrity siblings and business partners Erwan and Solenn Heussaff.

THE UNFORGETTABLE KULINARYA KITCHEN - RINAZ

"Where am I going again?" I probably asked Richie for the Nth time over the weekend. With my Momnesia fully intact and active, I have a hard time keeping up with our calendar. I was to have lunch with some of our friends at a restaurant in Powerplant Mall, Rockwell. Honestly I have never heard of the place we were going to dine in. Not because it's not a good place but plainly because of my lack of knowledge in the restaurant world. That's Richie's forte. I was just expecting it to be a posh place since the restaurants in Rockwell more or less cater to the A class. (Usually, That's my impression hehe)

AT YUMMY EATS 2012!!!

I'm in this video.. i'm not sure exactly where..
something like the 1minute 36 second mark..

I honestly didn't know what Yummy Eats was when I first heard the buzz around the net. I figured at first that it was another food fair along the lines of Best Food Forward. Nevertheless, it didn't matter to me. My relationship with food fairs is like Kevin Costner and Baseball fields.. If you build it I will come.

I was pleasantly surprised to find out that it wasn't so much your average ordinary food fair, but an entire day of taste testing and cooking demonstrations!

With the promise of over fifty concessionaires in one tent, I couldn't let this event pass me by!

QUICK PICK: HAPPY LEMON'S COCOA WITH ROCK SALT AND CHEESE

What can you say about the whole Milk Tea craze? No disrespect to those who have been totally captivated by it, but I personally find the stuff disgusting. If you say the words "Gong Cha" or "Serenitea" in my office, everyone loses their frickin' minds, and BAM, it's a given.. They have to order delivery.

It's not like I didn't give it a chance either. During a monthly meeting, everyone was asked where we wanted to order merienda, everyone inexplicably answered "Gong Cha". I was baffled because I was thinking to myself.. "But.. That's not.. Merienda...". The fact that we wouldn't be eating any form of solid food (except for the pearls in the bottom of the drink, of course) wasn't an issue. I was suggesting San Lo's Famous Emapanadas but they wouldn't hear it. They wanted their Milk Tea, and nothing else in the world mattered.

My officemates reading the menu of Gong Cha

My grumbling tummy, however begged to differ. Nonetheless, I decided to not let my pickyness spoil their Milk Tea Party so I played along and asked for a chocolate one, hoping the overpowering taste of the chocolate would blend beautifully with the tea.

    It did not.

It became highly evident that, unless it's "C2 Apple" or "Nestea", I'm not a tea person.

So when I heard about "Happy Lemon", I brushed it off as just one of those Milk Tea places. A few months ago, I was reading up about it, and I heard about their famous drink, "Cocoa with Rock Salt & Cheese", and was immediately intrigued, and a little bit weirded out.

In my mind, I imagined a glass of the chocolate milk tea I had tried during our meeting, topped off with grated quick melt cheese and a sprinkling of salt. Weird, right?

I asked my friend, the lovely Donna, if she tried had tried it already, and she said she had, and she loved it. I then asked my officemate, and Serenitea addict, Chi, if she had tried it. She said "Yes, but I like Serenitea more". So I asked her why, and she replied, "Because Happy Lemon's Cocoa with Rock Salt and Cheese isn't tea. It's chocolate!"

It seemed my disgust with milk tea clouded my thinking so much, I hadn't realized that Happy Lemon's Cocoa with Rock Salt and Cheese does not have the word "tea" in it at all.

 Problem Solved.

So one fine day, when Rina and I were at Rockwell, we came across a Happy Lemon, sat ourselves down and decided to give the popular drink a try.

And so began our addiction to Happy Lemon's Cocoa with Rock Salt and Cheese.

A QUICK STOP AT ELBERT'S CHEESE STEAK

Is it fair that she's four months along the way, and I STILL look more pregnant than she does?

I was minding my own business, whilst surfing the net, when Rina's friend, Zee begins raving on facebook about a deal she got from the group buying site "Twangoo, com", for the famous Elbert's Cheese Steak Sandwiches. I've actually tried this already before, but that was around two or so years ago, so I was more than willing to get my Cheese Steak on once again.

The awesome Twangoo Deal I got gave me P600 bucks worth of food for only P300, so not only was I planning to pig out, but I was planning to pig out as a happy man that just saved P300 bucks (or so I thought).
