BEST ROASTED GOOSE IN HONG KONG: YAT LOK

Since I couldn't find a seat in Shake Shack, I decided to take a long walk over to Stanley Road in Hong Kong's busy Central District, to visit the legendary and highly acclaimed Roasted Goose restaurant, Yat Lok! Once I got there, I was surprised with how long the line was, but I kept the faith and eventually I was let in!

In the first six months of this year alone, over 500 new restaurants opened … and that’s only all over Metro Manila! The construction boom in hotels and resorts all over the country is likewise accelerating at a rapid pace.

Every month, every week, and almost every day it seems, there's a new restaurant opening its doors. There are a lot of great new dining choices, side by side with the perennials, the classics that we grew up with.  As food bloggers, writers, and members of the F&B industry, we're always very curious about the crowd favorites. The popular vote, if you will.  What are the beloved favorites? Let the voice of the people be heard!

About The Choice

Since our first ceremony in 2015, The Choice Awards have become more influential every year, and are now considered to be the most prestigious People’s Choice Honors in the F&B Industry. Through the first four years, we have celebrated the Best of the Best, and have elevated the most beloved restaurants to the Hall of Fame after winning their category three times. This year, we celebrate our landmark Year V!

We conducted an intense first round of voting among ourselves, and our resulting Finalist Lists have made us very pleased:  we feel it's a very diverse and fair representation of all our favorites from many diverse categories.

The Survey Parameters

1. For the Favorite New Restaurant category, our coverage period includes restaurants that opened between July 1, 2018, to June 30, 2019.

2. There are 45 questions in this survey, and answering this survey should take only around 10-15 minutes. It is best to give a definitive answer to each question, but feel free to skip if you can't decide.

3. All answers are considered final once you click on the submit button.

4. Strictly one completed survey will be counted for each person voting.

PICKIEST EATER TRIES: KFC'S GARLIC BUTTER CHICKEN

KFC launched a new item to their menu.. The Garlic Butter Chicken! It's basically their Hot and Crispy Chicken, glazed in a sweet Garlic Butter Sauce, and served with Garlic Butter Rice. They also have a Twister Version as well. What did I think about it? Watch the video and find out!

SHAKE SHACK OPENS IN THE PHILIPPINES

After a highly anticipated wait, Shake Shack is finally scheduled to open its doors to the Philippine public on May 10, 2019! I was very fortunate to be invited to a closed door sneak peek of what Shake Shack Philippines has to offer, and truthfully, I was even more impressed with it than I was when I visited it in Hong Kong last December! The Shack Burger was excellent, and the 'Shroom Burger was a revelation! Also nice to catch up with my friends, Chuckie Dreyfus and his lovely wife Yen, and I got to see the gorgeous Joyce Pring again! POPEYE'S CHICKEN IN THE PHILIPPINES!

Popeye's Fried Chicken opened its first branch in Metro Manila, and I was the first customer in the country to order from the restaurant! Popeye's opened on May 16 at Arcovia City along Libis, paving the way for more branches to pop up around Metro Manila very soon! The chicken was amazingly juicy and crispy.. I can't wait to go back for more!
