SORSOGON'S BEST: MANGO GRILL'S BIG CHEESE CASSAVA CAKE

I have a confession to make. When it comes to desserts, I'm not a fan of Pinoy offerings. Outside of Turon and Leche Flan (which is technically Spanish), I find myself taking a pass if native treats, such as Bibingka and Puto are the choices.

Don't get me wrong, I think they're delicious enough to eat, but it's easier to resist than more indulgent desserts, such as chocolate cakes and cream pastries.

   Well, apparently I was wrong.

I recently tried a Cassava Cake that was just so irresistible, I swear I could have finished one whole by myself in one sitting.

2 LAZCANO PLACE: KUSINA JUAN REPLUBLIKA

I mentioned this in my earlier blog posts, but when I moved back to Manila from Cebu right after high school, I first lived with my grandfather at the Scout Area of Quezon City. Dining at the Scout Area didn't have the gems that are there today. In fact, if we wanted a decent meal, we would have to drive over to the bustling Tomas Morato Ave, where legendary restaurants, such as Mario's, Anabels' and the like still stand today.

But to think of getting a delicious meal just walking distance from my grandfather's place was unheard of.  Sadly, more than 20 years after moving out of that QC neighborhood, it has become quite a food haven. And as you may have it, I found an amazing hub just down the street for my Grandfather's house, called 2 Lazcano Place, which housed a charming little Filipino restaurant that I thoroughly enjoyed... Kusina Juan Republika.

CEBU'S FAMOUS KUYA J'S, NOW IN MEGAMALL!

Jericho Rosales Kuya J

Kuya J was actually a former simple eatery in the streets of Cebu city. It’s one of those hole-in-the-wall restaurant that people just kept going back for because of their delicious and satisfying Filipino dishes. It was so popular that here it is now, operating in Megamall! And it is endorsed by the famous award-winning drama actor in the Philippines, (and also was Rina’s crush), Mr. Jericho Rosales.
