THE RAMEN CRAZE CONTINUES AT IKKORYU FUKUOKA RAMEN! - RINAZ

I’m sorry but I can never memorize the name of this place hehehe. But as hard it is for me to remember the name (sorry all my memory brain cells was sucked out of me during labor hehe), the interior is quite unforgettable with it’s tall wood fences with black Japanese characters written all over them. I believe they were poems. Or was it a story? Anyway it was quite a unique ambiance.

JOIN THE SECURITY BANK CASH REWARDS PHOTO CONTEST!

As a food blogger, I'm always on the lookout for my newest food discovery. Not only do I look for quality of the food, but I also make it a point to look for places that have great value for money. And sometimes those places aren't always the glitziest and most glamorous of places.

Just last week, we were fortunate enough to explore the wonderful city of Davao (More of that on a future post) along with three other bloggers. Our schedule was jam-packed with an itinerary filled with some of Davao’s most amazing dining spots. Without a doubt, I left Davao much heavier than when I arrived.

Though our trip was graciously sponsored by Marco Polo, Rina and I agreed to make sure to be frugal when we got there. When you have a family, you try your best to tone down the WANTS and focus more on the NEEDS. But at the same time, I wanted my wife to feel like she was on vacation as well, by being able to give her even a little bit of pocket money.

Thankfully, I got some extra cash from my rewards with Security Bank. It’s the first time I've heard of a bank giving rewards in the form of cash. This is great because I personally tend to forget it when I’m awarded via points, or redeeming a specific item at a specific establishment. (My memory sucks. So does my wife’s.) So this way, I can choose where and when I want to spend my rewards because it’s in cash.

      And spend we did!

SMOPER CHICKEN: THE KOREAN CHICKEN CRAZE CONTINUES

I still remember when Rina and I first got bitten by the Korean Chicken craze. The lines for the popular twice fried wings were ridiculously long, yet we braved it. And funnily enough, we continued to do so, until we eventually got sick of it.

Truthfully, when all was said and done, 90% of the goodness came from the crispiness of the skin. I found the meat itself lacking in flavor, which is why I stuck to the wings and stayed away from other cuts, such as the drumsticks, chops, or even my beloved thigh.

Though my taste buds enjoyed the skin of the Soy Garlic, I couldn't help but think that the chicken meat itself could use some sort of a diping sauce.

Years later (Possibly due to a chicken overload), my love for Korean Twice Fried Chicken has tempered. I don't look for it the way I used to.

That all changed the moment I walked into Smoper Chicken

THE PICKIEST EATER'S SAMSUNG GALAXY MEGA CHALLENGE HAS BEGUN!

I've made a blogging career out of being Picky with my food, but something ya'll didn't know was that I'm also very picky when it comes to my cellphone. I'm not the type of person who changes his cellphone as soon as a newer model is out. I actually only change my phone once every two years, which I feel is perfectly reasonable.

But whenever I DO change cellphones, I have one important rule.. I have to be among the first that has it.

Call me shallow, but I love the reaction I get from people when I whip out my new bad ass phone in the middle of a conversation, and all of a sudden everyone forgets what they were talking and asks me about it. Me, I just play it cool..  I'm like, "Oh, this old thing? Ppsshh..".

I attribute it to me getting into the Cellphone game quite late. Back in college, when people were using a 5110 or 3210, I had a "Pocket Bell". So as I watched my classmates swap texts, I would kinda hide my little black brick, and if it went off, I'd deny I'd hear it and would go to the bathroom just to check who sent me a message. I told myself that when I could afford a cellphone, I would make sure it ROCKED.

Now, nearly a decade later, I've got a Cellphone that fits that bill.

And I want one of my readers to have one too!

This, friends, is the long awaited
Pickiest Eater's Samsung Galaxy Mega Giveaway!!!!

FILIPINO COMFORT FOOD.. NAMNAM STYLE!

Late last year, during the "Sneak Eat" of BurgerBar to be exact, I bumped into Moment Group Co-Owner Jon Syjuco, a friend of mine since high school. Despite the burger madness that was going on, he graciously gave me a little tour of what was happening just a few feet below from us. Even though BurgerBar had yet to open its doors to the public, the Moment Group already had another ace up its sleeve, in the form of "Namnam, Filipino Comfort".

I will be the first to admit that outside of "Liempo", I've never been a huge fan of Filipino Cuisine. Which probably explains why I wasn't really too ecstatic about visiting Namnam Comfort Filipino restaurant at Greenbelt a month or so ago. I honestly had no expectations, and figured that it would be just another one of those Filipino restaurants that serves classic Pinoy food that we all know and love.

Little did I know that I would be walking into a restaurant that I now consider one of my favorites!

COCA RESTAURANT NOW IN THE PHILIPPINES! - RINAZ

With Mr. Trevor McKenzie, Managing Director of COCA Group of Restaurants
I’m really fascinated with restaurants that serve family dishes that have been passed along for generations, but with their own special twist! And this is COCA restaurant’s legacy. Mr. Pitaya Phanphensophon, the CEO of COCA international Co. Ltd. Told us a simple yet powerful statement that night. “I would not serve you anything that I would not serve my children”. And this is precisely how it should be.

Just a little history:  This restaurant started back in 1957 when Mr. Pitaya’s parents Mr. Srichai Phanphensophon with his wife Mrs. Patama opened a 20-seater restaurant that immediately became a huge hit, until they moved to a different location (Soi Tantawan) and eventually expanded to a 150-seater restaurant.  From there, everything was history! Suki style cooking was introduced. And this, my friends, was the birth of COCA Restaurant. (COCA derived from “Kekou” which means appetizing.

And I gotta tell you, “appetizing” is an understatement!
