CASHLESS FOOD DELIVERY ON A LAZY WEEKEND WITH PAYMAYA!

Let me know if you can relate to this.. It’s a Saturday Morning, and I’m absolutely starving. I realize that in my urgency to get home and avoid rush hour, I totally forgot to withdraw money, just to make sure I have something in my wallet should the need arise. Much to my dismay, I wake up to find out that our helper took the day off, and given that my culinary skills leave much to be desired, the only logical option would be ordering from a food delivery service.

So this is the situation I find myself in.. I can’t cook for fear of burning my house down, but at the same time, I don’t have enough cash on hand for delivery.. So what do I do? Given that this was a Saturday, I was too lazy to leave my house to go to the nearest ATM.

Thankfully, just a couple of days ago, I noticed a PayMaya sign at the ArmyNavy restaurant near my office. This got me thinking.. Perhaps they accept PayMaya for delivery? A quick check at their website proved me right… More and more online restaurant delivery services are using a feature that PayMaya recently introduced called “Pay With PayMaya”, making it even convenient to get food delivered straight to your home!

You might be wondering what could possibly be new about Paying with PayMaya.. Since people have been doing it for quite some time now. Well, their new “Pay With PayMaya” feature, users no longer need to go through the cumbersome process of entering your card details when making online
purchases. All you have to do is log in using their PayMaya mobile number and enter the OTP that they receive on their phone to confirm their purchase. Simple as that!

Here’s a quick step by step guide on how to make an online purchase using the new Pay With PayMaya Feature!

STEP 1: Log on to the Website that accepts PayMaya Payments (I’ll post a list at the bottom, but for this particular transaction, I chose ArmyNavy). You might need to register.

STEP 2: Choose your order from their menu (There are so many delicious items to choose from, this is usually the most difficult part for me)

STEP 3: Choose your Order Method (Some restaurants let you choose from a Pick up or Delivery option)

STEP 4: Choose your Payment method. Army Navy allows Cash, Credit Card, and other online Payment options, including PayMaya! Select Online Payment Powered By PayMaya

STEP 5: Fill in Delivery Information (Let them know where to deliver!)

STEP 6: Review your order Summary (Make sure the details are correct)

STEP 7: Click on “Pay With PayMaya”

STEP 8: Fill in your Mobile Number or email address, and your PayMaya Password

STEP 9: Wait for the OTP on your Cell Phone, and enter it into the Website. Confirm the payment, and you’re good to go! For a foodie like me, this totally changes the game when it comes to online purchases!

Using Pay With PayMaya is incredibly convenient. I don’t have to have cash with me at all times, and I simply need to enter my phone number instead of my hard-to-memorize Credit Card Number. Not only that, the One Time Pin function assures me that my transactions are secured. I get a notification on my
phone first so I can verify my purchase.

 A final note was, the transaction was made seamlessly, because
the delivery man simply had to hand over my purchase. No need to prepare cash or “change for P1,000” or whatever. 

And I was also surprised to find out that I got a 10% cashback Bonus, because all PWP transactions from December 11, 2019 to January 15, 2020
will receive 1%, 10% or 100% cashback, capped at P500 per transaction. That’s a great introductory promotion!

SORSOGON'S BEST: MANGO GRILL'S BIG CHEESE CASSAVA CAKE

       I have a confession to make. When it comes to desserts, I'm not a fan of Pinoy offerings. Outside of Turon and Leche Flan (which is technically Spanish), I find myself taking a pass if native treats, such as Bibingka and Puto are the choices. 

     Don't get me wrong, I think they're delicious enough to eat, but it's easier to resist than more indulgent desserts, such as chocolate cakes and cream pastries. 

   Well, apparently I was wrong. 

     I recently tried a Cassava Cake that was just so irresistible, I swear I could have finished one whole by myself in one sitting.

         And if you can resist a slice of pizza, you my friend, are a stronger man (or woman) than I. Think about it. Whenever there's someone celebrating their birthday at the office, or watching a big sports event with friends, or even a simple series marathon, Pizza is often the default food of choice.  I recently discovered a pizza that offers one of the best value for your money.. And the great part about it? It tastes quite delicious AND.. It's probably the biggest pizza you'll find in the country today!

DECK THE HALLS WITH YELLOW CAB PIZZA CO'S CHRISTMAS FLEET!

       No joke, when I first saw a Yellow Cab Pizza, I thought it was an American brand. Back then, they didn't serve pizzas this huge. And though pizza (Like all tomato based dishes) tends to give me Hyper Acidity, when it's Yellow Cab Pizza, I suddenly find myself helpless to its powers. 

      Even though they specialize in Pizza, Yellow Cab also has some amazing dishes in their menu.. So how would one get a chance to try them all without breaking bank?

A FOODIE.PH DELIVERY: RUB RIBS & BBQ

         Perhaps the best compliment I could get as a Food blogger is, “Your blog made me hungry!”.That’s exactly what a food blog is supposed to do, so that means I did my job right. I love it even more when they say, “I hate you! Now i’m hungry!”. I know you don’t really hate me (wait.. do you?), but the

mere fact that the hunger my blog caused was so severe, it transformed itself into hatred, is a testament to my it being effective. However, even though I may have made your tummy growl and mouth water with the tantalizing pictures and tempting descriptions of the food, one thing you readers must

understand as well is.. If you think reading my blog is difficult.. Imagine how hard it is to write it?

         I’ll tell you this.. I’m most comfortable writing at home.. that’s where I feel most of my creative juices flow.. but.. At home, we don’t have a cook. No Joke.. our helper almost burned soup. Rina, bless her soul, is still in the process of learning simple recipes, but she’s been going to so many events she hasn’t really had the time to practice yet. So what I’m saying is, more often than not, after a session of writing, I don’t exactly have a gourmet meal waiting for me.

         Sure, it’s easy to call a food delivery service, but you’re often relegated to the major ones with hotlines. Nothing wrong with that, but as a blogger, obviously, I’m on the net a lot. Since I’m already online, I found it to be much easier to have food delivered with establishments that allow you to order

online. I stumbled onto Foodie.ph, a online delivery service that has an impressive selection of restaurants in its roster.

While I was contemplating whether to try it or not, I checked out what restaurants were available in my area, and the only one was the popular Rub Ribs in Kapitolyo.. Which worked perfectly for me, because everyone knows I love me some good ribs. Not to mention, I’ve been wanting to visit Rub for the longest time but never got around to doing so (#FoodBloggerProblems).

          After a quick sign up, I went to the Rub menu to check out what Rina and I wanted before we placed our order. Once we were ready, we just hit the “Order Now” button.

        The site then took us to a screen wherein we may select the delivery time. This is actually quite helpful for advance orders.

     

     When you select your item for the menu, you get the option of putting any special instructions (medium well, no tomato, no veggies.. etc) and not Who the item is for.

        Since my order of ribs came with a choice of side orders, a window was also readily available for me to select which one I wanted

         When we were done, Foodie.ph gave us a recap of our orders, and gave us an option to edit and add orders if needed. The page also included the running bill, and an option to tip your driver (Nice option).

        Once the order was placed, I was taken to the status window, where it confirmed that my order was indeed in the foodie.ph system

        A minute or so later, I got an email from foodie.ph, confirming that my order was placed.

        The brilliant thing about foodie.ph is that every step that your order goes through.. from your driver arriving at the restaurant.. enroute to your house.. you will be notified of its status. As a customer, that’s very important. The wait won’t seem so long, when you’re getting constant updates of

what’s happening with your order.

      Another couple of minutes later, I got a call from the Foodie.ph operator, who confirmed my delivery details. Although everything was already listed in the website and email, this step is necessary because it provides the human element that gives customers that needed assurance that their order is

being attended to.

       The food arrived after around an hour, which was more or less the estimated time that they had stated. I really liked the huge boxes the food was packed in which environmentally, was much better than packaging it in Styrofoam. If you weren’t at home and no utensils available, these boxes would be ideal. Something that disappointed me though, was that the boxes weren’t labelled “For Richie”, for Baby Rain, etc.. making that entire exercise of them asking who its for pretty much useless.

THE FOOD

        I won’t lie to you.. The Rub Ribs Solo wasn’t my first choice. I was honestly contemplating ordering the Beef Fingers or the grilled pork belly, before I came to my senses and realized you can’t order from “Rub” without trying their Ribs.

RIBS

      Funnily enough, the ribs was actually the dish I liked least. Don’t get me wrong.. Im not saying it was bad.. Because it was actually quite tasty and packed with so much flavor, I didn’t need the extra side of sauce that it came with. What Im saying is, it wasn’t anything mind blowingly different from the others I’ve tried. What makes Rub stand out more than anything is its price, which is extremely reasonable. I’ve got to hand it to them though.. the meat tore cleanly off the bone, and like I said, it was very flavourful. On the whole, it’s great value for money.

      One thing I was very disappointed with, was the “Texas Toast”, mainly because.. well.. It wasn’t Texas toast. It was slices of French bread with butter on it. So it was “buttered toast”. If they said that from the start, I wouldn’t have ordered it. From the thickness of the bread alone, it’s clear that this wasn’t Texas toast wasn't Texas as Toast at all. I wouldn’t recommend it as a side. 

Go for the Grilled Corn instead :)

CHICKEN

            I actually enjoyed the fried chicken much more than the ribs. It was coated in a light batter with a touch of spices into it, and fried nicely, giving the skin a beautiful crunch, but keeping the meat juicy. The gravy needed a tad bit of salt, but had a lovely creaminess to it.

        Not to mention, the order seemed close to a “bucket meal” than an order for one person.

FISH & CHIPS

           The Fish and Chips was ordered as an afterthought by Rina. She wanted a fish dish that we could order for Rain, that we could eat ourselves afterwards since she probably won’t finish it by herself.

           It turned out to be the best thing we ordered that day. The fries had some sort of coating on it that gave it a little bit of texture, but needed to be cooked a little bit more so it would be crispy. A shame, because flavour wise, it was delicious. The fish was amazing. The coating was a bit on the heavy

side, but it was fried to a gorgeous crisp that gave way to an immaculate white fish meat that felt like it was melting in your mouth. The fish went perfectly with the creamy aioli sauce that offered a bit of a garlicky kick. After my first bite, I was actually contemplating telling Baby Rain I’ll buy her a pony when she’s eight years old in exchange for letting me have the last few pieces of fish.

TERIYAKI BOY DELIVERY!

Reviving my series on Delivery Services in Metro Manila.. Hope you enjoy! 

            Being a food blogger for nearly three years, people are often surprised to hear that neither Rina nor I know how to cook. Basically, all we really know how to do is eat. It's actually how I fell in love with her. I finally met a woman who can match my appetite. 

         Anyway, during the weekends, if we don't go out to eat we're usually stuck at home with canned goods or something processed. But when we're really lazy (which is pretty much every weekend), we order food delivery. 

        I went online and found out that Teriyaki Boy now delivers! I hadn't been to Teriyaki Boy in YEARS, so I figured this was a good time to revisit their Japanese food.

Shakeys App: Delicious Pizza In a Swipe of a Finger!

         It's a Sunday afternoon. A lazy Sunday afternoon. Exhausted from an eventful weekend, me and my wife Rina just didn't feel like making an extra effort to cook for dinner. (Good thing Rain has her tinola in the ref and is just one re-heat away.) 

      In times like these, what do you do? 

       You guessed it right: Pizza Delivery!

QUICK DELIVERY FROM NIPA HUT & MOTOYORI!

      Have you ever tried ordering from Quick Delivery yet? Funnily enough, even though I have a collection of their menu books, I had never gotten around to ordering from them yet. Which is weird because the roster of restaurants under the Quick Delivery banner is quite impressive. I’m usually stuck with the usual suspects when it comes to delivery.. McDonald’s, KFC, Shakey’s and Pizza Hut.

            Last Sunday afternoon,  I had tried ordering from Nipa Hut via Quick Delivery. The customer service attendant that received my call was very efficient and helpful. And after basically taking my entire order, you can imagine how embarrassed she was when she had to tell me that Nipa Hut is actually closed on Sundays, despite the fact it says in the Quick Delivery Online Menu that they’re open, but with delivery hours from 11Am to 3pm. She was very apologetic and was more than willing to find me a restaurant which was open on Sunday, but Rina and I decided to just find something to eat at home.

 Last Friday night, Just before I went on my way home from work, (This was around 9:30 in the evening, in the pouring rain), I realized I hadn’t had dinner yet. Being the sweet and sensitive husband I am, I knew it was a tad bit too late to have my wife Rina prepare me something to eat, so from the car, I decided to give Nipa Hut and Quick Delivery a try once again.
