BURGERS & BREWSKIES: FOOD FOR THE OVERLY MANLY MAN

Hello, my name is Richie Zamora. And I am a Burger Addict. I dont understand what exactly it is about burgers that have captivated me so. Granted, I spent my formative years in the USA, and burgers were definitely a staple in my diet. Although I've lived a great deal of my life in the Philippines, my Western influenced palate remains drawn to those grilled patties on soft toasted buns. Rina gets annoyed with me when I choose a burger joint over a rice meal ready restaurant.

What I enjoy about Burger makers nowadays is how they seem to have become more and more bold with their concoctions.. Pushing the limit of abusurdity not only with size, but with the toppings and ingredients that comprise the entire burger.

One of those newest Burger places, is Burger and Brewskies.

Burger and Brewskies is definitely a guy's place. The wooden interiors gives the place a very masculine vibe, that would even the most overly manly man proud.

Though Burger & Brewskies doesn't have a huge dining area, but thankfully it has two floors, to accommodate more guests.

STARTING LINE

I strongly suggest you start your meal with the Sweet Potato Fries.. Aka S.P.F (P65). I believe this is exactly how Sweet Potato Fries should be. It was light and crunchy, with the sprinkling of B & B's secret spice mix giving it a delightful sweetness, that made me keep on grabbing some by the handful.

The Chili Cheese Fries (P160) is the epitome of a guy bar chow. It was Steak Cut fries topped with B & B's signature Chili, and slathered in a creamy cheese sauce, and peppered with chopped onions and sour cream.

Another hit with me and my friends was the Cuban Missle (P120). This bad boy - Grilled Sweet Corn smeared with mayonnaise and sprinkled with spiced shredded cheese.

WING IT!

B & B has an excellent selection of Chicken Wings to choose from. If you like your wings with a bit of heat, then you might want to go for B & B's popular Buffalo Wings (P220), where the hot sauce is melded with a bit of butter, and served with a side of Bleu Cheese Sauce.

Sweet and Spicy meets harmoniously with the Sesame Sriracha (P195), made with an infusion of Sriracha and honey and sesame.

I enjoyed the Zesty BBQ (P195), which a delicious mix of Sweetness with just a hint of spice, infused in a tasty BBQ Rhum sauce.

My sweet & savory tooth made it a no-brainer for me to declare that my favorite to be the Honey Garlic Wings (P195). The wings were coated in Garlic infused wild honey, with touches of Soy Sauce added for bit of a salty balance.

I'm not sure if the Salt and Pepper Wings (P195) are still available, but if it is, I recommend you give that a try as well.

B&B SIGNATURE

I think my love for burgers has been well chronicled in my blog through the years. And B & B is a place that I found rather unique because its outrageous concepts are crafted with gourmet techniques that make it stand out from its competitors - all while maintaining that macho vibe.

Each B & B Burger 100% Imported Beef Patty weighs 1/3 of a pound, and are made fresh everyday. All burgers are cooked to medium, as it is the temperature that B & B feels brings out the best flavor of its burgers.

It's pretty hard to argue with the results.

As the name suggests, The Winner Winner Chicken Dinner Burger (P230) replaced the 1/3 Beef Patty with a 1/3 Chicken Patty instead. The Burger is drowned in a BBQ Rhum sauce, Roasted Garlic Aioli and the B & B Cheese Sauce, then topped with crispy onion rings.

The Cloud Burger (P235) is something that mushroom lovers would definitely like. The B & B Patty is topped with Balsamic Glazed Shitake Mushrooms and dried figs for a touch of sweetness. A dollop of Roasted Garlic Aioli is then added, and smothered with B & B's Cheese sauce.

The Relish Burger (P225) was perhaps the burger I liked the least. With the strong flavors of the Tomato Jam, Basil Garlic Pesto and Pickled Onions clashing, I wasn't really sure what was supposed to be the highlight. Throw in the Spiced Mustard Aioili, and the B & B Cheese Sauce, then your taste buds are in for a roller coaster ride.

I'm a Breaking Bad fan, so I like that fact that B & B paid homage to the TV's most bad ass show, by naming not one, but TWO burgers after some of their characters.

The Heisenberg (P250) is made with a Bleu Cheese sauce and Jicama Celery slaw, with a Bacon Vinaigrette.

The Hector Salamanca Burger (P240) is as fiery as its TV counterpart. Made with B & B Chili oil, Jalapeno Crema and Tomato Salsa, and topped with crisp Nacho Chips, and smothered in Cheese Sauce.

I suggested ringing a bell every time this is served. (Only BB Fans will get it hehe)

The Kandi Burger (P265) was among the three burgers that really stood out for me. The blend of the onion confit and the delicious Spiced Candied Bacon, worked wonderfully for me.

It was a photo of the Call The Nurse (P280) burger that someone tagged me on Facebook that brought B & B to my attention, and I had been enamored with it ever since. After months of gazing at the photo, I was not disappointed when I finally got a chance to try it. The burger is filled with Seared Mac & Cheese, and topped with gorgeous slices of Honey Sriracha Bacon.

I heard you can order a Double Patty/Double Mac & Cheese version called, Call the E.R.

My favorite burger in the entire Burger & Brewskies Menu has got to be the Walk of Shame (P340). True, Having bacon and cheese sauce with drizzling of Lemondaise sauce isn't anything groundbreaking, true. But when you take the top bun, flip it over and cook a fried egg into it, before topping it off with Fried Potato "Hay", then you're in a whole new level of the clinically insane.

This was originally supposed to be a breakfast burger, but I guarantee you that this is good for any time of the day.

BREWSKIES

Admittedly, I know absolutely nothing about beer, but I think Beer drinkers will be pleased with the wide selection of Beers and other drinks available at B & B.

I was very pleased with my first experience at Burger and Brewskies, and I will definitely be going back soon. I would gladly take a stroll down the Walk of Shame once more, without even the slightest hesitation!
