Morton’s The Steakhouse Brings To The Philippines “The Best Steak Anywhere”!

                    The Bistro Group finishes the year strong with the opening of Morton’s The Steakhouse on November 25 at the Uptown East Gate, BGC. The launch of this steakhouse founded in Chicago in 1978 is much-awaited by food lovers with a sophisticated palate who have travelled not only to the USA but in other countries as well for a taste their famed USDA prime-aged steaks. With its launch, The Bistro Group now has 27 restaurant concepts under its portfolio. This partnership is a significant part in Bistro’s expansion plans as it looks forward to celebrating its 30th anniversary this year.

International Meat Cutter Challenge on December 7 at TEXAS ROADHOUSE !



Four professional Meat Cutters from Texas Roadhouse’s Metro Manila stores will compete in the first round of the qualifier International Meat Cutter Challenge on December 7 at the restaurant’s McKinley Hill branch. 

They are out to prove that they’re a cut above the rest.

The legendary Meat Plus Cafe of Subic is now in Manila! Meat Plus opened their first branch at Metro Manila, specifically SM Mall of Asia (MOA), bringing with them what they're best known for... Amazing US Steaks at incredibly affordable prices! But Meat Plus Cafe is more than just Steaks.. I checked out their menu and discovered even more phenomenal dishes!!

Father's day this year was made even more special for me, as my family and I visited Mimi & Bros at Bonifacio Global City, for their Steak Out Sunday event they celebrated in cooperation with Steak.PH! 

Not only did we feast on a mouth-watering Ribeye, we also enjoyed some of the items on Mimi & Bros Menu!

WOLFGANG'S STEAKHOUSE OPENS IN BGC!



The world famous Wolfgang's Steakhouse of New York has opened yet another branch at One Bonifacio High Street! We went to a sneak peek dinner to see what they had to offer, and we were absolutely blown away by their excellent steaks, and other fine dining dishes! And the best part of the evening? I got to meet the man, Mr. Wolfgang Zweiner himself!!

THE BEST NON-HOTEL BUFFET IN MANILA: NIU BY VIKINGS PODIUM MALL


         I think it's quite clear that I have a love for buffets, having featured quite a number of them on my blog throughout the years. A question I get asked quite often is which is my favorite buffet, particularly from the Non-Hotel category. Admittedly there are quite a few good ones out there now, with Niu By Vikings always in the conversation. 

      However, with its newest branch at The Podium Mall opening recently, in my humble opinion, it has vaulted itself to the top of my personal standings!

THE CORNER MARKET FOOD HALL AT PODIUM: MEAT DEPOT

      The sparkling new renovation of Podium Mall opened up opportunities for more shops and restaurants to settle into the bustling Ortigas center. Recently, a sprawling Food Hall opened, named, "The Corner Market". Spanning roughly around 1,200 square meters, The Corner Market is set to house 17 food establishments in its massive halls.  

      Though not all 17 are operational yet, your friendly neighborhood Pickiest Eater made the ultimate sacrifice for his beloved readers, to try the food stalls that have opened their doors at the Corner Market.. Where good food is just around the corner!        


          As I entered The Corner Market, it was The Meat Depot that immediately caught my eye. The sizzle of the steaks could be heard from where I was standing, and the aroma of cooked meat was undeniable.

       S Maison at Conrad Hotel always feels like quite a way from where I live, but whenever I go there, I always seem to discover a restaurant that makes the trip worthwhile. With its wide array of mouthwatering entrees, Pastries and Desserts, Epilogue is one of those restaurants that gives you the courage to brave the Pasay traffic and the throng of terrible UV express drivers on the road.

If you love steak, then let me tell you this: You MUST try SAGA Steak. I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to try this amazing cut of beef from the Saga prefecture in Japan twice in my life, and the second time was even better than the first

           I've never been to Australia, but the laid back vibe I get from Outback Steakhouse, where you're encouraged to kick back and relax over some awesome food, makes me feel like this is one country that I would love to visit (Ok fine, the hot babes has something to do with it as well).

           Recently, Outback Steakhouse Philippines launched a limited time offerings menu dubbed "The Great Aussie Eats", and it's nothing short of awesome!

GREAT STEAKS AT CHOPS CHICAGO STEAKHOUSE, SHANGRI-LA PLAZA



          I think I may have eaten more steak this year than any other time in my life. Not that I'm complaining, as everytime I go to a different steakhouse, there's always something about the place that makes it a whole new experience. I've been to Chops Chicago Steakhouse's Greenbelt Branch a few years back, but I had yet to visit the branch nearer to me, located at the East Wing of Shangri-la Mall. 

       One fine day, my blogger buddies and I paid a visit to Chops, to find out if their food, particularly their steaks, would do the windy city proud!

GIVE ME LIBERTY: LIBERTY ASIAN REFUGE AND BAR

 

          I still remember the first time I met Chef Jonvic Mangibin. It was for a dinner at the old Olive Kitchen and Kitchen Bar a couple of years ago, where he was the Sous Chef of Chef Rob Pengson. Being the second in command of a celebrity Chef would seem like a daunting task, but I was impressed with how Chef Jonvic seemed to have the full trust of his boss.

       We were happy to meet Chef Rob, however we weren't expecting him  to stay long because of his busy schedule. Lo and behold, Chef Rob just made sure his guests were settled in and comfortable, but by the third course, he bade us all adieu, and left for his next schedule, leaving Chef Jonvic with the reins of his kitchen without a second thought. Mangibin did not disappoint, as he masterfully churned out one dish after another, each dish better than the next.

     Chef Jonvic and I crossed paths once again late last year when I visited Lola Cafe, where he had added his own twist to its classic Filipino menu.

     During my visit, Chef Jonvic kept gushing at his newest baby, which he called, "Liberty". As much as he enjoyed his work at Lola, he was incredibly excited to unveil to his new restaurant, where no pun intended, he had the "liberty" to infuse his own, original ideas. 

    Months later, I got the invite that I've been waiting for. Liberty Asian Refuge and Bar has opened in Eastwood!

THE PICKIEST EATER BITES: THE KTG AT EDSA SHANGRI-LA HEAT - MAD FOR WAGYU NIGHT!



             Greetings! First off, I want to thank all of you for your support with The Pickiest Eater Web Series. The reception has been uncanny and there have been some developments that I can't share just yet, but once everything is final, I will announce it on my blog immediately! As you may or may not have noticed, there was a rather wide gap between Episode 1 and Episode 2. That was mainly because of my family opening a business in which I have been tasked to handle marketing duties, and the sheer volume of work that needed to be done by a skeletal crew was a bit daunting.

           With the sheer work that needs to be done, such as Color Grading, 2D Graphics and stuff, my partner Mark at Muvo Media and I realized that we would not be able to sustain The Pickiest Eater Web Series into a twice a month schedule like we had intended, especially since we decided to go for a Food Network Show quality. 

           What we decided to do was try to make a smaller scale series that was more manageable to come up with at least twice a week, giving enough time to whet the appetites of my readers while waiting for the next episode of the Web Series. 

          This is The Pickiest Eater Bites.  

          If The Pickiest Eater Web Series is a Food Network Show, The Pickiest Eater Bites stays true to its YouTube roots as an unpolished "Video Blog" that gives my readers a chance to get to know me on a more intimate level. What's going to make this even more fun is that I intend to have some of my friends from my food blogging group, "The Kain Tulog Gang" (aka The KTG) as my guests! This is a great way for you to meet some of the food bloggers that you may have been following when scouring the net looking for places to eat!

IN THE SPOTLIGHT: PAPARAZZI AT EDSA SHANGRI-LA HOTEL


           My appreciation for Italian cuisine has grown over the course of my being a blogger. Being hyper acidic, I would normally associate tomato, my number one enemy, with Italian Food. Think about it. The most recognized dishes from Italy - Pizza, Spaghetti. Lasagna - the basic ingredient when traditionally done is tomato. 

       However, I discovered that as I continued my relentless exploration of Italian Dishes, their cuisine is incredibly versatile. There are so many other entrees that aren't heavy handed with the tomato sauce, and they taste remarkable. 

      Rina and I were invited to dine at Paparazzi one evening for a romantic dinner, and I was surprised to find that in our entire five course meal, there was only one dish that utilized tomato in it.

    With Italian Chef Marco Ghezzi at the helm, it's no wonder that Paparazzi is perhaps the closest to Italy as you can get here in the Philippines.
