MANDARIN SKY OPENS IN MARKET! MARKET!

A QC Legend has now opened in Taguig! 

The popular Chinese restaurant, "Mandarin Sky" has opened a new branch in Market! Market! Unlike the main branch in Quezon city, the Market Market branch doesn't feature the fresh seafood in tanks, hence the "Express" monicker.. however the menu is pretty much the same lineup of dishes that made them famous!

SHAKE SHACK OPENS IN THE PHILIPPINES

After a highly anticipated wait, Shake Shack is finally scheduled to open its doors to the Philippine public on May 10, 2019! I was very fortunate to be invited to a closed door sneak peek of what Shake Shack Philippines has to offer, and truthfully, I was even more impressed with it than I was when I visited it in Hong Kong last December! The Shack Burger was excellent, and the 'Shroom Burger was a revelation! Also nice to catch up with my friends, Chuckie Dreyfus and his lovely wife Yen, and I got to see the gorgeous Joyce Pring again! F1 HOTEL'S LUZVIMINDA 6: TIMELESS FLAVORS

          When Independence Day rolls in here in the Philippines, the foodie world is always abuzz in anticipation of an event that never fails to captivate our taste buds.. I'm talking about F1 Hotel Manila's LuzViMinda Festival!  With the theme of the 2018 incarnation "Timeless Flavors", we knew we were in for a treat, as this year's set of chefs pushed the envelope when it came to culinary innovation of beloved Filipino dishes!  

F1 HOTEL MANILA'S LUZVIMINDA 2017!

        Whenever June comes around, an event that i'm always looking forward to is F1 Hotel Manila's LuzViMinda Food Festival. The ingenuious concept is, the hotel invites three renowned chefs to represent the different regions of the country, through their gastronomic creations. Now, LuzViMinda is on its fifth year, and they've got a perfect track record in my book. 

       The 2016 incarnation featured some of the top female chefs of the country, but in 2017, the boys are back in town! Chefs Mikel Zaguirre, Dennis Uy and Kalel Chan all took up the challenge of featuring the best dishes from around the country, all into one amazing buffet spread. 

      This ranks up there with the very best LuzViMinda festivals ever! 

HEY HANDSOME: YOU TALKIN' TO ME?

        I've had the fortunate opportunity to go to Malaysia twice this year, and I must say I absolutely fell in love with the country that I regrettably overlooked throughout my entire existence. More than just a food paradise, the warmth of Malaysia's people, the splendor of it's natural beauty, and the disciplined demeanor of the community, left me spellbound. 

      But yes, the food was truly outstanding. Their rich culture allowed for a plethora of influences from around the world, leaving me to wonder what else from Asian Cuisine have I been missing out on due to my stubborn pickiness? 

     I might not be able to go on a Food tour of Asia anytime soon, however the latest collaboration of renowned Chef Nicco Santos and the Tasteless Group, "Hey Handsome", helped me take a mini tour of Asian Flavors, one plate at a time. 

RAGING BULL CHOPHOUSE AT THE FORT SHANGRI-LA IS A KNOCKOUT!

       It's only August, but I think this is the year in which I've eaten the most steaks in my entire life. Not that I'm complaining, of course, but this just proves that the steak dining scene is alive and well here in Metro Manila. The newest player is opening today, August 31, at Shangri-la Hotel, The Fort, and it looks set to change the game of steak as we know it. 

    Here's a little preview of what to expect at the sparkling new Raging Bull Chophouse. 

SOUTHERN HOSPITALITY AT MORGANFIELD'S BGC UPTOWN MALL

         When asked what my favorite cuisine is, my stomach and I always reach an impasse. We're always torn between Chinese Food or good old fashioned American food. When I say American food, I usually pertain to stuff like Barbecues, Ribs and the like. Which is why my ears always seem to tingle when I hear about a new Rib joint opening up in Manila. 

          One of those places that caught my attention was Morganfield's that opened up late last year. It was only a couple of weeks ago that I was able to make time to visit, and I must say, I kicked myself for not going sooner (Which wasn't easy to do mind you.. I have short legs)!
